Uncle Quenton was a true man of God and a great example of what a man should be. So glad he was in our lives. Will miss our weekly calls. He would always say. "If you need anything just call"

Uncle Quenton was always a Christian man of integrity and dignity .... but to me, he was simply my Uncle Quenton. I loved him and Aunt Mattie and always looked up to them. I remember when I was 6 and learned they were moving from Bastrop. I thought my heart would break but quickly learned the distance between our families was only a bunch of miles as they would return back to visit and allow us to visit them. What fun and they helped me truly learn the meaning of "family." Uncle Quenton traveled immensely and they lived in a number of places which allowed us a place to vacation and visit. We had such fun with them when we visited them in Kentucky, Michigan and Pennsylvania, often finding interesting day trips in which I saw my parents and these fine people having a fun time, as well as us children.
One particular memory I will never forget....the ice cream truck, "Mr. Softie", would travel through their Kentucky neighborhood in the evenings. On the last night of our stay, we were praying at the end of our family worship (yes, all adults and all children prayed---10 of us!!) when I heard the sound of that ice cream truck. Although I wished the prayer time could pause, of course that did not occur. After the prayers finally ended, I was sad we had missed Mr. Softie; however, Uncle Quenton loaded us all in his vehicle and we found that truck and got our ice cream. There was a lesson learned that evening from Uncle Quenton.
Jeanette, Janiece and Dennis - I will miss seeing Uncle Quenton when I visit Bastrop; however, we know he is in a better place with others we love. I'm glad we are family!

Jeanette, and family, our condolences in the passing of Mr. Quenton; what a thrill, his home going. I am sure Mattie has saved him a spot!

The Burchfield’s were such a beautiful couple inside and out! Mrs. Maddie would always raise her hands to praise God during worship and Mr. Quenton would always speak up and say Amen when needed. I looked up to them. I know Mr. Quenton is beyond happy to be reunited with his wife and meeting God. They will always be missed!

I knew him and Mrs Burchfield many years ago when my son was in the daycare in Bastrop and they lived a street behind us. I never saw him when he wasn’t smiling or trying to do for others. He was definitely a man of God!
