I wasn’t her pastor for a very long time, but I always had connections with Ms. Nan for the larger part of my ministry. It never failed how bad of a job I thought that I had done on a sermon, Ms. Nan always had an encouraging word for me plus a hug. Sweet, compassionate and faithful are just a few words that describe this dear Saint of God.

I would like to express my condolences to the entire Bolton family. I know that Nannie appreciated all of the support and time given during her stay at Lagniappe and the earlier stages of life that she experienced with each of you.
I often think at times like this when you see the families of those who have lived a full life, that though one can only speculate about life and riches in heaven to come, that Nannie had great riches here on earth. Not in a monetary sense. But the kind of wealth that comes from the love and sacrifice that it takes to raise a large family and joy in seeing it grow into new generations. She will be long remembered and loved by all who knew her. I believe that she loved her life and her family and I wish the same for all of you.

I found out about Nan late Saturday evening. Yes she is my mom's (Lucille) youngest sister, but us kids always call her Nan since she is only 5 years older than I am. Even though I left Bastrop in 1965, I always made it a priority when visiting my mom and dad she was on my list of must spend time with. Sorry to say it has been quite a few years since I have been back. However, I do think about Nan often and wonder what she was doing. Always had a wonderful time visiting with her and any of my cousins that would drop by. I know she will be missed greatly by everyone. Keeping all of the family in our prayers.
