Funeral services for Mr. Michael Wayne Harris, age seventy-six, are scheduled for 2 PM Thursday, March 31, 2022 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 PM - 2 PM service time at Goldens. Mr. Harris, of Bastrop, LA and formerly of Brandon, MS, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born June 24, 1945, in McComb, MS to the late Bennie Edward Harris and Audrey Faye Lawrence Harris. Mr. Harris was a United States Army veteran and a retired bus driver for Rankin County School District in Brandon, MS. He was a member of The Pointe Church in Brandon, MS and was a devoted Christian. Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Faye Jones Harris; brothers, George Webster Harris and James Edward Harris; and sister, Sharon Faye Hughes. He is survived by his former wife, Brenda Redden Harris of Bastrop, LA, and their children, Lisa Coburn (Shawn) of Bastrop, LA, William Harris (Ryan) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Melanie Harris of Bastrop, LA. He is also survived by daughter, Sherry Greene (Roger) of Mobile, AL; brother, John Paul Harris (Sheri) of Gulf Breeze, FL; sisters, Shirley Greene (Pat) of Leesville, LA, Darlene Landry of Biloxi, MS, Bonnie Adams (Danny) and, Bessie Nimon (John), both of Smithdale, MS; grandchildren, Chelsea Coburn, Raven Harris, Casie Coburn, Silas Harris, Travis Greene, Layla Harris, and James Nichols; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Shawn Coburn, Trey White, Raven Harris, and Silas Harris.
