After reading about the "adventures" of our Bartholomew Society in the late 1990s, Jeff (whom I had never met) called me up and started telling me all about this fancy "Kevlar" canoe he had. I figured out he was trying to sell it to me, as I had an old $80 aluminum canoe I'd bought used in 1981. Came to find out he wanted to GIVE it to me, so that "someone who would really enjoy it could use it". Years later, I researched it online, and found it was quite an expensive, and luxurious model. It was a beauty, and FAST, and I used it regularly after moving to the Missouri Ozarks.
Never got a chance to see him again, but thought about him every time I took that fine boat out on a clear, fast Ozark stream. Thanks.
