Obituary of Jeffrey Lynn Barnhill

Jeffrey Lynn Barnhill, of Bastrop, LA passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born September 12, 1956 in Fresno, CA to the late Truel Hodge and Mildred Russell Barnhill. Jeff was a member of Naff Avenue Church of Christ. He was a retired mechanical technician from Morehouse Parish Highway Department of thirty-five years. He was also a member of the Morehouse Parish Emergency Response Team for many years. Jeff was an avid reader. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, canoeing down waterways, and photographing wildlife. Jeff was a member of Friends of Black Bayou, a Master Naturalist, and he loved teaching others about nature, wildlife, and the history of Morehouse Parish. Jeff was always willing to help anyone in need and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Truel Hodge Barnhill. Jeff is survived by his mother, Mildred Russell Barnhill; sister, Cathy Osborn; brother, Steve Barnhill and wife Heather; nephews, Marc Osborn, Brennan Osborn, and Ty Barnhill; nieces, Rachel Barnhill, and Ava Barnhill; and numerous cousins. His family would like to express their gratitude to Morehouse Parish Dialysis Center and Haven Home Health for the excellent care he received during his illness. A special thank you to the numerous friends and family for all the calls, cards, visits, and prayers during this difficult time. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 3 PM - 5 PM at Golden Funeral Home. A private memorial service for Mr. Barnhill will be held at a later date.
