Funeral services for Sue Johnston Jordan Warren, age 89, are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Mayo officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until 11 AM, service time. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Sue Johnston Jordan Warren was born on February 13, 1933 in Haile, Louisiana and passed away on July 6, 2022. Sue graduated from Bastrop High School in 1951 and from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1956 with a BA in Elementary Education. She then obtained her Master’s in 1971 from Northeast Louisiana University and her Plus 30 in 1982 and was certified in Special Education. She began the kindergarten program at Oak Hill Baptist Church in 1965 where she taught for three years. Throughout her 34 years of teaching, she taught in both Arkansas and Louisiana including Caldwell and Madison Parishes. She taught at several schools in Morehouse Parish including Pine Grove, East Side, Carver, South Side, Prairie View Academy and then with the Morehouse Parish homebound program before retiring in 1997. She was always active in church and enjoyed playing the piano for church services and for the children’s choirs. In her retirement years, she delighted her family with her playing at home. In the last year, she played at Savannah Court for devotional time and sing-a-longs. After Ramon’s retirement from the ministry, they were active members of First United Methodist Church of Bastrop. They enjoyed traveling around the country, whether it was pulling their RV or with a tour-bus group. They visited every state except Hawaii, and many Canadian provinces. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.P. and Carrie Riley Johnston, her infant sister, Ann, and her husband, Ramon Warren. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Jordan Weiland and her husband, Ken, of Clarksdale, MS; Ann Jordan Cooke and her husband, Gordon, of West Monroe, LA; and Amy Jordan Porter and her husband, Neill, of Meridian, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin Porter and his wife Claire of Franklin, TN, Alison Cooke Wagoner and her husband, Luke, of Durham, NC; Megan Porter of Meridian, MS; Hannah Weiland of Denver, CO, Holly Cooke Silver and her husband, Charlie, of McKinney, TX; Nick Weiland and his fiancee, Emily Nickels of St. Louis, MO; Garrett Porter of Huntsville, AL and Kelli Weiland Bosarge and her husband, Haze, of Brandon, MS and two great granddaughters, Nora and Eva Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Porter, Garrett Porter, Nick Weiland, Luke Wagoner, Charlie Silver and Haze Bosarge.
