Obituary of Esther Shockey Sistrunk

Funeral Services for Esther Shockey Sistrunk, age 75, of Bastrop, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Stuckey and Bro. David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens. Mrs. Sistrunk passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on January 4, 2023. She loved her husband of 55 years, Mr. Donald Sistrunk. She will be remembered as being a wonderful wife, they enjoyed hunting and camping trips together. She always found good things to say about everyone she knew. Cameo and Home Interiors was something that she enjoyed being a part of. Most of all she devoted her life to her family and loving her grandchildren and her great grands, family was most important to her. Mrs. Sistrunk was a member of North Bastrop Church of God. She also loved to sing. She is survived by her husband, Donald Sistrunk; daughter, Letha Sistrunk Heckford and husband, Drew; son, Dewayne Sistrunk and wife, Kristie; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Turner and husband, Don, Sandra Harper, Sharon Torres and husband, Mike, Emma Kay Shepherd and husband, Walter, Dorothy Pardue Shockey, Cheryl Hatten Sistrunk; brother-in-law, David Sistrunk and wife, Beverly; grandchildren, Brandon Sistrunk and wife, Ashley, Andrew Sistrunk and wife, Laura, and Mason Heckford; great grandchildren, Riley, Landon, Macie, Nora, Kayden, Kamren and Kolby and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sistrunk is preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Mary Shockey; brothers, Daniel Shockey, and Samuel Shockey; and sister, Marie Tubbs. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Sistrunk, Andrew Sistrunk, Chase Pritchett, Matthew Sistrunk, Drew Heckford and Mason Heckford. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Sistrunk, Bill Tharpe, and Danny Shockey.
