Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Jeanette Sistrunk Turner, age 80, of Sterlington, LA are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Eckhart officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens. Mrs. Turner passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church. She served as librarian in Morehouse Parish for 25 years and 9 years at Sterlington High School. Carolyn served for 34 total years teaching school and as a librarian. She spent many years educating and helping others, as well as, continuing her own education. She earned a B.A. in Education and a M.S. Degree plus 30 in library and computer science. She was a very talented painter who enjoyed arts and crafts and loved her frequent trips with friends to Canton, Mississippi. Carolyn also loved to take cruises and travel with her husband, Don, the love of her life, whom she married on September 9, 1964. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald D. Turner; daughter, Tammy Tevy and husband, Brady; sons, Brian Turner and wife, Monica, Jeff Turner and wife, Neacie; sisters, Sharon Torres and husband, Mike, Sandra Harper and husband, Bill; brother, David Sistrunk and wife, Beverly, and Don Sistrunk; sister-in-law, Emma Kay Shepherd; grandchildren, Trent Turner and fianceé, Kalie Smith, Jenna Turner, Madison Turner, Jacob Turner and Amber Tevy and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow W. and Amber Lee Moody Sistrunk; brothers, Calvin Sistrunk, Jimmy Sistrunk, Thomas Sistrunk, sisters-in-law, Esther Sistrunk, Betty Sistrunk; and her adopted brother, Bill Birmingham. Serving as pallbearers will be Trent Turner, Jacob Turner, Keith Sistrunk ,Chase Pritchett, Jason Sistrunk and Steve Sistrunk. Memorial contributions may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church, The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or the Alzheimer’s Association.
