Obituary of Stephen Wayne "Steve" Perry

Funeral services for Stephen Wayne “Steve” Perry, age 65, are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. Cal Adams, Bro. Dennis Hackler and Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 11 AM until 1 PM, service time at Cherry Ridge.
Mr. Perry, owner and operator of Steve’s Jewelry for 46 years, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023. He was very active and faithful in his service to the Lord and to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a giver and had the heart of a servant. He was an avid outdoorsman and was passionate about bird dogs, quail hunting in particular and fly fishing. He loved classic cars and shared many special trips with Meredith going to car shows. He loved the Bastrop community and the preservation of “Historic Downtown Bastrop” and spent much of his last twenty years in real estate development. Last but not least, he loved his family, and times spent together were always moments that he cherished.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy McCoy Perry; mother, Ruby Laverne Powell Perry; daughter, Meredith Perry Comans and husband Tim; sister, Linda Perry Hampton; mother-in-law, Ann Bright McCoy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Wanda McCoy; nieces, Marisa McCoy Webre and husband Brandt, Kristen McCoy Keener and husband Jeremy; goddaughter, Lauren Gladney Rogers and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Perry is preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth DeAnne Perry; father, Louis C. Perry and father-in-law, Bob McCoy.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Todd Wilson, Jerry Bryan, Goodwin Gladney, Jeff Churchwell, Phillip Lester and Brent McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, Sonny Nason, Steve Whorton, Earl Tackett, Laverne Johnson, Gale Rogers, David Rhea, Steve Pearce, Peter Branch, Todd Ashabranner, Marc Vereen, Todd Little, James Hunter, Peyton Grant, Barry Turner and his buddy Jonathan Hendrix.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
