Obituary of Maurice "Earl" Edwards, Jr

Funeral services for Maurice “Earl” Edwards, Jr are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, May 21, 2023 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. John Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. A Time of visitation will be held Sunday from 12:30 until 2 PM service time at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards, a retired carrier for the U.S. Postal service passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the age of eighty-two surrounded by his family. He also owned and operated M E Edwards Construction Service for thirty plus years. Mr. Edwards enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, and caring for his “puppies”. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Edwards; daughter, Debbie Brown of Bastrop, LA; sons, Rick Edwards and wife, Becky of West Monroe, LA, Tim Edwards and wife, Cindy of Bremerton, Washington; grandchildren, Erica Edwards, Brandon Edwards, Jessica Edwards, Tessa Edwards, Diana Edwards, Sue Anne Brown, April McMilleon, and Jennifer Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Mr. Edwards is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Naoma Edwards; and siblings, Louise Willis, Yvonne Gregory, James Edwards, John Edwards, and Joan Gillet. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Linder, Larry Townsend, Tony Middleton, Roger Davis, Jerry Bell, and Chris Hayman. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Edwards.
