Funeral services for James Earl Freeland, Sr., are scheduled for 10 AM Friday, October 20, 2023, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Ezra Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 9 AM.
Mr. Freeland, a resident of Bastrop, LA and longtime member of First Assembly of God, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven. He was a well-respected businessman in Bastrop for many years. He loved golf and was known for spending as much time as possible on the course. Mr. Freeland was dearly loved by a host of family and friends and will be missed greatly.
Mr. Freeland is survived by his children, Debbie Freeland Thomas, and husband Bob, Karol Freeland Handy, Earl Freeland, Jr., and wife Alison; siblings, Jerry Freeland, Avanell Bennett, Becky Morrison; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Adams Freeland; parents, Earl and Mildred Freeland; brother, Tommy Freeland; and daughter, Laurie Freeland McIntyre Haynes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
