Mr. Clausing, a member of New Life Church, was born December 14, 1940, in Port Washington Wisconsin, and passed away on November 22, 2023, in Bastrop, LA. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison until he was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Greenland and later White Sands, New Mexico. He stayed in New Mexico after completing his time in the Army to finish his college at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. He achieved a degree in civil engineering and a license as a professional engineer and was hired by Chicago Bridge and Iron in Houston, TX. While employed at Chicago Bridge and Iron he traveled to Mer Rouge, LA, to build a water tower where the cotton warehouses would later be built. It was during this trip he met his future wife, Dianne. Three nights in a row they were in separate vehicles at the same red light. On the third night he asked her to go get a Coke with him and one year later they were married. Ron continued working for Chicago Bridge and Iron until 1977 when he was employed by IMC in Sterlington, LA. His new job would take him to many places building plants mainly for the production of vaccines. After his time at IMC he began to work on construction projects in Bastrop. He built all types of buildings, but he was most proud of the grain bins he built for the farmers. Farming held a special place in Ron’s life. When his health became so poor that he could no longer work, he became distressed. Ron, after all, was and always had been a work-a-holic.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne Clausing; daughters, Nicki Pickett and husband Charlie, Stephanie Clausing; son, Brett Allen Clausing; sisters, Caroline Clausing and Barbara Ziegenhagen; brothers, Russell Clausing and wife Kris, Roger Clausing and wife Jo Ann; sister-in-law, Wanda Harrison and husband Ronnie; brother-in-law, Johnny Parrott; grandchildren, Jayden Pickett, Carson Pickett and John Carter Pickett; and special niece, Denise Goings, and husband Newt, and with their children, Chandler, Peyton, and Lauren; and special nephew, Brad Harrison, and wife Dana, and their son, Atlas.
Mr. Clausing is preceded in death by his son, Gary Christopher Clausing; parents, Armin and Dorothy Clausing; brothers, Ted Clausing, Jimmy Clausing and Jerry Clausing.
