We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Rod was a very nice friend that Mike & I went to school with at Bastrop High. The last time I remember talking and visiting with him was at the airport in Atlanta or Dallas a few years ago. We were traveling for work & he was too and that was our connecting flight for Monroe. Time goes by so quickly. We will remember the family in our prayers. Mike & Alice Baker

Rod you will be missed forever. The sad news of your passing was so overwhelming and heartbreaking. We have been through a lot throughout the 43 years we have been friends. You were the person who helped me get out of my hospital bed to go to the nursery to see my daughter for the first time. The water balloon fights we had were a blast, poor mailman never knew what was in-store for him. Poor thing was always soaking wet from us bombing him. My favorite memory is when we were at the camp and you whispered to me (Wanna go frogging). We had a blast. Even though I thought my arm was broken from being rammed in the bushes. But we racked up that night. There are too many years to fit in this little box I'm typing in. We are heartbroken that we can't attend your service but we are there in spirit. As Vince Gill sang. Go Rest High On That Mountain!!!

I only knew Rod through work. I always liked the man. He reminded me of an old cowboy, kind of gruff and ruff around the edges, with a good heart and soul. A kind man in reality. Going to miss the man and hope to meet up with him again.

Our heart-felt condolences to the Sanders Family. we're all gonna miss him so much and we thought of Rod and his family as they were part of our family. Rod you may rest in peace now with our Lord's hand around you. We love Y'all and this poem is for the family:
I Made it Home
I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new.
I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand.
God is taking care of me … I’m in the shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain.
Here there is no crying, and I’ll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing.
I really have to go for now … I’ve just got to try my wings.

Uncle Rod was the nicest man on this planet. He was the absolute best uncle that anyone could hope for, and I know that he was an amazing father and husband. He will be missed by EVERYONE that knew him.
