Obituary of Joseph Hez "J.H." Lockwood

Funeral services for Mr. J. H. Lockwood, age 95, are scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 2 pm in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Dr. Rex Horne and Rev. Dennis Hackler officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm prior to the funeral at Goldens. Mr. Lockwood, a resident of Bastrop, passed away June 20, 2024. He had been a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church for 77 years. He served in many roles of the church including deacon for 64 years and choir member. He also worked at International Paper Co. in Bastrop for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Larue; parents Wesley and Clara Lockwood; brother Elmer Lockwood; and sisters Marene Delaney, Cecile Viles, Jean Rogers and Madie Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Leland Cable. Mr. Lockwood is survived by his sons, Mike Lockwood and wife Rosie of Fairhope, Alabama and Bill Lockwood and wife Jackie of Prosper, Texas, daughter Sherry Cable of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy Glenn of Bastrop, Louisiana, Kristy Pulkrabek of Phoenix, Arizona, Jenny Hamilton and husband Zach of Celina, Texas and his great-grandsons, Carson and Ben Pulkrabek and McKennon Hamilton. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Riels, Jerry Deville, Lynn Sanders, Stan Smith, Greg Hawkins and Jack McCormick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Wilson, Sherman Thompson, Eugene Copeland and Bobby Nugent. Mr. Lockwood’s family would like to express their gratitude to Doug and Brenda Riels, Dr. Carter Cox, and also the staff at “The Columns-Savannah Court”.
